SKS JAPAN 2025 Set for Oct 23–25: A Three-Day FoodTech Summit with Global Leaders

Change-makers Gather from Japan and Around the World—Three Days of Multi-Faceted Discussions on the Present and Future of FoodTech

UnlocX & Co. (Headquarters: Minato City, Tokyo; CEO: Hirotaka Tanaka) will co-host SKS JAPAN 2025 – Global Foodtech Summit –, one of Japan’s largest FoodTech conferences, in partnership with The Spoon (Headquarters: Washington State, USA; CEO: Michael Wolf). The event will take place over three days—from Thursday, October 23 to Saturday, October 25, 2025—at COREDO Muromachi Terrace.

SKS JAPAN brings together change-makers and innovators from Japan and around the world to spark collaboration and co-creation across the FoodTech ecosystem.

This year’s program will feature approximately 40 sessions led by around 100 speakers from Japan and abroad, as well as about 40 exhibits. The conference will also expand from the previous 2.5-day format to a full three-day schedule. In addition to interactive sessions and venture pitches, we will host a three-day, citywide public exhibition, “Shoku no Mirai Yokocho (Future Food Alley),” alongside the conference.

FoodTech in Japan Is Entering a New Stage

Japan’s FoodTech ecosystem is moving into a new phase. Collaboration between large corporations and startups is accelerating, and investment—including public funding—is increasing. Building on R&D, pilot projects, and real-world implementation, the foundation for creating new industries is steadily taking shape.

Globally, food-related challenges are intensifying—from supply risks driven by climate change and a potential protein crisis to diet-related lifestyle diseases and food loss. As a result, innovation around food—including Food AI—is accelerating dramatically. At the same time, the many values of food are gaining renewed attention, creating a growing range of business opportunities.

Capturing FoodTech’s “Current Position” and Shaping a Shared Vision of the Future

Now in its 8th edition, SKS JAPAN 2025 will examine FoodTech’s “current position” not only through the latest technology trends in Japan and overseas, but also through a three-dimensional lens: social implementation, commercialization, and ecosystem development.

Looking ahead, the conference will explore what the food industry should become to realize the future we want—and what strategies are required to bring Japan’s FoodTech to global markets. Participants will join the discussion to sharpen a shared vision and translate it into concrete action.

Food Experience Matters—Because “Deliciousness” Comes First

At the same time, one essential factor in developing food-related businesses is taste. No matter how advanced a technology may be, consumers ultimately choose what they find delicious.

By expanding the scale of FoodTech experiences—such as the Future Food Court, where attendees can taste innovative products, and the public exhibition “Shoku no Mirai Yokocho (Future Food Alley)”—we aim to offer more people the opportunity to experience FoodTech firsthand.
